Hello! My name is Calista Houdek. I hold a Master’s Degree in Public History and a Bachelor’s Degree in History, both from Boise State University. While completing my undergraduate degree, I helped develop an archive at the historic Boise High School. I have worked as an archivist for the Idaho State Archives and as a condition reporter for the Idaho State Museum collections, where I helped preserve and document artifacts that tell the story of our region’s rich past.

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, I’ve lived in places as diverse as Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Biloxi, Mississippi—experiences that sparked my lifelong passion for history.

As a Fulbright-Hays Scholar, I served as an educational ambassador in Taiwan and Mozambique, where I engaged in global education that continues to inform my classroom teaching today.

Outside of teaching, I love roller skating, experimenting with historical makeup aesthetics, and baking. I’ve called Idaho home for the past 12 years, and I’m always inspired by the stories and research my students bring into the classroom.

You can reach me at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
